Description

A microvolume UV/Vis spectrophotometer that processes up to 16 samples on a single slide in about two minutes, requiring only ~2 µL per sample. It supports DNA, RNA, and protein quantification via dedicated app-based workflows, with no cleaning needed between consecutive measurements.

The DropSense 16 is a compact microvolume UV/Vis spectrophotometer that combines advanced microfluidic sample handling with full UV/Vis spectroscopy. It enables fast, accurate measurements of very small sample volumes without cuvettes or wash steps.

Key features

  • Microvolume measurement: ~2 µL per sample using patented microcuvettes.
  • High throughput: up to 16 samples per slide in a single run.
  • No cleaning / low carryover: capillary microcuvette design minimizes evaporation and cross-contamination.
  • Touchscreen operation: 7" color display for method selection and on-instrument results review.
  • Flexible data export: USB, network, QR code, or direct printing.
  • Self-calibrating: no routine maintenance required for day-to-day use.
  • Wavelength range: ~230–750 nm.
  • Dynamic absorbance range: typically ~0.03–200 OD (slide-dependent).
  • Quantification ranges: dsDNA ~1.5–10,000 ng/µL; IgG protein ~0.02–146 mg/mL (slide-dependent).
  • Optics: xenon flash lamp with a UV/Vis spectrometer detector.
  • Slides: patented microfluidic slides with capillary channels holding ~2 µL.

Slide options

  • Slide-40: single microcuvette, 0.5 mm pathlength (up to ~40 OD).
  • Slide-200: dual microcuvettes (0.1 mm and 0.7 mm), extended range (up to ~200 OD).

Typical applications
DNA/RNA concentration & purity, protein concentration, full UV/Vis spectral scans (230–750 nm), OD600/cell density, and specialized assays via software apps.

Practical benefits
Minimal sample consumption, rapid multi-sample processing, wide dynamic range, and no wash steps.
